Is There An App For That?? |
|
God was really clear: "I commanded these things for your own good!" (Duet 10:12-13)
Jesus says it this way: "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. "And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. (Mat 7:24-25 NASB)
As we study the life and teachings of Jesus through the book of Mark, we will looking for ways to live it out 24/7/365 (actually 366 this year- you don't get a day off for leap year). When Jesus told us that we are to "teach them to observe everything I commanded you," He wasn't talking about academic knowledge. None of this matters until we do something with it! If we are not transformed by His words, then nothing happened.
Together we are going to read, study, talk, apply and live the words of Jesus!
This series includes campanion lessons for children and take home studies for individuals and families. Each Sunday, youth and adults will continue the discussion during the Bible Study time at 9am.
Click here for a tentative schedule of the passages covered each week. You will also find study notes for each week and the video for the past messages. Don't wait. Start reading Mark and the parallel passages in Luke and Matthew! |

Thrilling stories of ministry to Greece
Delicious Greek cusine and special music

Hellenic Ministries is an international, non-denominational Greek missionary society following in the steps of the Apostle Paul. HM beckons God's people everywhere to consider the same Macedonian call that drew Paul in AD 40 to this spiritually needy land. HM seeks to serve Christ throughout Greece, the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean.
With evangelism, discipleship and church planting at the core of what we do, HM is penetrating all levels of Greek society. Summer evangelistic campaigns cover much of Greece and its numerous islands. During campaigns, Christian young people from Greece and abroad are discipled in servant-leadership and face-to-face evangelism.
HM's other ministries include regular programs for youth, newspaper evangelism, love meals for the poor and disenfranchised, and a maritime ministry using the 17 meter (55 ft) sailboat, Morning Star. Youth programs utilize regular worship events and summer sports camps at HM's seaside center, Porto Astro. Porto Astro is also the base of operations for the Morning Star, which reaches inhabitants of the thousands of kilometers of Greek coastline. The boat has also taken evangelism teams and/or aid to the neighboring countries of Israel, Cyprus, Turkey and Albania.

Whether you believe we have come out of the recession or we are on the verge of a global economic crisis, we all have the same basic concerns with money - how to make it, how to save it and how to spend it. As the writer of Ecclesiastes says, "There is nothing new under the sun."
This sermon series on money was adapted from four sermons on the topic preached by John Wesley, founder of the Methodist movement, in the 1700s. In his sermon, "The Use of Money", he introduced his economic trilateral: Earn All You Can, Save All You Can, Give All You Can. The Bible is far from silent on this topic, however, I doubt many of us actually live what it says.
In "God's Economy" we will look at money from the standpoint of how and why we should Earn All We Can. In "Watching Over the Visible ... and the Invisible" we will discuss biblical stewardship as we unpack Save All You Can. Finally, in "Gauranteed Return on Investment", we'll determine some investment strategies that will "store up treasure in heaven" as we consider Give All You Can.
You can read Wesley's original sermons at the links below. This sermon series combines elements of each with some other biblical texts and modern illustration.
